The SNAC dietetics committee has two primary focuses: research and community service.
Research: Each semester, our members select and work on a research project aimed at deepening our understanding of key nutrition and dietetics topics. Using this knowledge, we educate fellow students and community members by creating presentations, infographics, and brochures.
Community service: Our committee focuses on giving back to our community through a partnership with a different organization each semester. Currently, our efforts are focused on supporting Berkeley Food Network. We visit the pantry in small groups, and have gotten the opportunity to get to know different members of our community. We love connecting with diverse community members to play a part in improving their access to healthy food options.
The SNAC Outreach committee is focused on providing our club members with informative and engaging content for general meetings while also planning exciting activities to bond at socials. Despite past efforts of keeping Outreach committee to stay consistent, this year things were done differently. Outreach committee was further split into 2 subcommittees: general meeting subcommittee and socials committee. Through this structure, each subcommittee is able to delegate tasks within their respective groups to maintain quality for each general meeting and social.
This year, the general meeting subcommittee had guest speakers in research and nutrition related fields along with educational powerpoints. We also had collaborations with other campus organizations. Socials subcommittee planned various bonding activities to give members a chance to meet one another through a pumpkin painting night, having a hot cocoa bar, and more.
Our marketing team explores the intersection of nutrition, business, and marketing through engaging case workshops, curated resources, and insightful guest speakers. One of our highlights includes case-based workshops where members analyze real-world marketing scenarios from the nutrition industry, brainstorming creative solutions and learning how top companies approach branding, advertising, and consumer engagement. We apply this knowledge by creating educational and visually appealing posts for our Instagram account, @ucbsnac, on a variety of nutrition-related topics. Our goal is to consistently spread awareness about SNAC and its initiatives while fostering a deeper understanding of nutrition within our community.
This year, we also expanded our efforts by forming a team to develop and manage our website. With the website, we aim to provide an accessible hub for members and the public to engage with SNAC’s content and connect with our work in the field of nutrition.
